Discipline: A Total Approach
Facilitator Training

If you are looking to become an excellent manager of positive classroom  behavior OR an expert resource for teachers in positive behavior management, this is your opportunity.  Participants will become certified Trainers/Facilitators of the Discipline: A Total Approach (DATA) Program.. DATA is a comprehensive training program that is designed to improve classroom and school-wide discipline. Participants will receive a 276-page Participant's Manual, and an Instructor's Manual. Designed for at-risk classrooms and regular classrooms, the DATA program is a powerful preventive tool -- for even the most difficult environments, including alternative schools.

Applicable to all grade levels, the DATA Program can serve as a vital resource for districts or principals who are looking for a comprehensive, effective discipline model that can easily be offered in a variety of formats. Some schools have had "lead teachers" become facilitators of the DATA Program. The options are numerous for schools and school districts.

What You Can Offer Teachers:
The following objectives are among those addressed in the DATA Program:
SELF AWARENESS: What do we as teachers and principals do that encourages disruptive behavior?
PREVENTIVE DISCIPLINE: What strategies can we use that will substantially decrease the probability that discipline problems will occur?
RESPONDING TO PROBLEMS: How might we respond more effectively when students are disruptive?
CONSEQUENCE MANAGEMENT: Which negative consequences are most effective and how can teachers avoid "majoring in minors"?
MOTIVATION: What role does motivation play in behavior management models; how can we enhance student motivation, and how can we teach personal motivation?
COMPONENTS: What components must be included in an effective discipline program?
PARENTS: How do we increase the probability that parents will communicate with us, support us, and follow through?
THE DE-ESCALATION MODEL: What are its most important components and what guiding principles contribute to its effectiveness?
SUCCESS STRATEGIES: Which management and motivation techniques have produced the best results for teachers at all grade levels?
SPECIAL NEEDS STUDENTS: Which techniques enable us to manage the behavior of special needs students and students who are chronically disruptive?
